About

We have named our tomatoes and the processed products derived from them 'Shiokonen no Megumi' (Blessings of Four Billion Years) in the hope that both consumers and those involved will be blessed with happiness. This name is inspired by the local pristine water used during cultivation, known as 'Shiokonen no Megumi Hyakusen' (One Hundred Selected Pristine Waters of the Heisei Era), which we use during cultivation. We have also registered it as a trademark on October 14, 2016.

We meticulously harvest each tomato from a tree that can only be harvested for about four months from July to November. We pick them at the perfect timing when they are fully ripe. We deliver these carefully harvested tomatoes and products made from them to everyone. We also offer fresh tomatoes for sale. Please feel free to contact us for more information.

~Why 400 million years of Megumi~?
Our farm is situated at the foot of 'Gionyama,' a mountain believed to have risen from the sea floor approximately 430 million years ago, during an era when Kyushu was still submerged. During cultivation, we utilize the pristine local water known as the 'Droplets of Four Billion Years,' which is said to have originated from that ancient period
We named it 'Four Billion Years of Blessings' with the hope that happiness will come to those who consume it and those who are involved in its cultivation.

At first, driven by our desire to reduce waste, we attempted to commercialize tomato sauce using non-standard tomatoes that couldn't be shipped due to their appearance. However, our desire to deliver delicious and authentic flavors to our customers led us to embark on the development of tomato sauce using the same traditional cooking tomatoes used in Italy.

The recipe is a traditional one passed down directly from Italian mothers! We want everyone, from small children to the elderly, to enjoy it with peace of mind. Our tomato sauce contains no artificial flavorings, colorings, or preservatives. You can easily savor the authentic taste of Italy in the comfort of your home.

  • Mount Gion, said to have risen from the sea floor approximately 4.3 billion years ago

  • The local renowned water, referred to as the 'Droplets of Four Billion Years.'

  • Our in-house cultivated Italian tomatoes, San Marzano Rieserba, are the foundations of deliciousness. They are rich in umami or tasty components such as glutamic acid and GABA, with a distinctive mild acidity. Belonging to the category of processing tomatoes suitable for heating and simmering, we started cultivating them in 2014 with the aspiration of delivering the authentic taste of Italy to our customers, beginning with just 100 seedlings.

  • Every year, we have gradually been increasing our cultivation and production, and in 2017, we challenged the conventional notion that processing tomatoes, considered not delicious when eaten raw, could be transformed. Our commitment to having everyone recognize the succulence of fresh tomatoes was appreciated when we received the Food Action Nippon Award, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
