About

  • Stay

At the foot of Mount Gion, which is said to have risen four hundred and thirty million years ago, the birthplace of Kyushu Island in Gokase Town, Miyazaki Prefecture, stands Auberge CORASITA.
Our inn, built in 1974, was transformed from the owner's childhood home. It has a limited accommodation for two groups per day, overlooking the source of the Gokase River, where the 'Myoken Shin-sui' springs through the strata formed over four hundred million years ago.
(Auberge, in French, means 'stayable restaurant')

  • Cuisine

Prepared by the owner, who holds the qualification of an Italian cuisine researcher, you can enjoy authentic Italian home-cooked dishes passed down by Italian mothers using our homegrown Italian tomatoes, from San Marzano Reserve, which can only be tasted at CORASITA.

What is Corasita?

「Yo~Corasita Hey~」
From Gokase Town's dialect, it means "Welcome, you have arrived" and is used to welcome customers.

About Gokase Town

Gokase Town is situated in the almost central part of Kyushu, featuring a range of mountains with elevations ranging from 1,200 to 1,600 meters. On the other hand, it also boasts gentle hilly terrain from where you can overlook the mountains of Aso.
Despite being in tropical Miyazaki, Gokase Town is home to Japan's southernmost natural snow ski resort. Many skiers from both within and outside the prefecture visit this area.
Gokase Town, with its rich Satoyama landscape, traditional agriculture and forestry practices, and captivating culinary culture, has been recognized and certified as a World Agricultural Heritage site in the "Takachiho-no-Ko and Shiibayama Region."

  • Villa della corasita
Corasita's detached accommodations overlooking the Italian tomato fields. It's a facility where you can experience cooking using fresh harvested tomatoes. You can also enjoy the experience of making handmade pizzas using a wood-burning stove. (Reservation required)
  • Gion Shrine
According to the shrine's history, it was established in the 11th year of the Jōgan era (869 AD), making it older than the main shrine in Kyoto. It is said that the owner of Corasita's grandfather, six generations ago (Fujita Genbei Yoshinobu), built the shrine as a chief carpenter at the age of 33 in the 6th year of Tenpō (1836), six generations ago. This was recorded in the shrine's topping-out ceremony. Since then, we've had a deep connection to the shrine, as we also live in this town.
  • Kinkoji Temple
When staying at Corasita, you can hear the gentle sound of bells at 6 a.m. From ancient times, this temple has been kindly watching over our lives.
  • A place with a panoramic view of Mount Gion.(Anokadaiji Temple Hall)
You can enjoy a panoramic view of Mount Gion, which is believed to have risen four hundred and thirty million years ago. In ancient times, the town where Corasita is located was under the sea, and fossils like chain corals were excavated from this mountain as evidence. It is a mountain that always gently watches over us, carrying the romance of ancient times.
  • Myoken Shrine
Myoken Shrine is the source of the water that also inspired the name of our tomatoes. Established approximately 1,100 years ago in the 11th year of the Jōgan era (870 AD) during the reign of Emperor Seiwa, Myoken Shrine has been revered as a water deity. The spring water flowing from the limestone cave layers of Mount Gion to a corner of Myoken Shrine is called 'Drops of Four Billion Years, Myoken Shin-sui.' It has been traditionally known as the 'Water of Nurturing' and has been selected as one of the Best Springs in the Heisei Era.
